The culture in multiple departments I have seen is for management to promote people who have little to no experience in the job. The best way to move up in the company is to say yes to everything with little to no regard for what makes actual sense. On the surface the company seems great but when you start digging its full of politics and games.
Coworkers are great
CAE is a fine place to work. Not much room for advancement in some departments. 6 month new hire probation. Benefits start first day and 401k match is good. Flex time is nice.
Benefits, flex time, 401k match
not much room for advancement
Great company to work for with excellent benefits. The Field Tech position requires you to travel 100% of the time and takes a little time to get used to, but after doing it week after week you will learn to adjust. The secret to success in this industry is TIME MANAGEMENT!!!
Points and miles build up quickly and those are yours to keep and use as you see fit.
You end up being a weekend husband/dad and requires a total family commitment
With bombardier doing so poorly, their employees have been moving to CAE bringing along their toxic and french biased cultureVisible minorities make up the majority of the company yet most positions above entry level are held by Caucasians which statistically shouldn't be the case
Great place to work, learning and advancement possibilities are endless. Management gives freedom and responsibility to makes your own choices, they respect my opinion and trust me. There is always work to do, the typical day at work is quite busy and therefore stimulating. The open concept workplaces make you want to come to work.
Collaborative environment, team work, challenging projects, employee contribution to innovation, family oriented, community involvement, Flexible hours allows you to better support your family life.
Good benefits, Values, Community involvement, flexible hours
This place is a good stepping stone and that's about it. They do not properly train their employees even though they are a training company. There is not much career advancement beyond your starting level and once you get to be at the top of your pay scale look out because they will get rid of you and hire 2 people to replace you. Leadership is lacking and because they get rid of the highly paid experienced people, the management lacks experience to make informed decisions. It's very frustrating working for a company that only sees dollars and not intrinsic value. Tools and equipment procurement is a joke, dollar store items to fix a multi million dollar piece of equipment? Say goodbye to your family and friends because you will have no life after having to work around the clock rotating shifts. There is a lot of back-biting and rumours, just childish behavior even from management. Daily life on the job is fairly relaxed, but can be very busy. The variety of work to do will keep you busy and interested for a while. Working with real aircraft systems and learning the new technology can be fun.
Flexible vacation hours, decent pay for what you do, working in teams, variety of work
Long hours, around the clock rotating schedules, poor training, cheap tools and equipment, poor leadership, no advancement opportunities
Learned Technical aspects of dealing with the Flight Simulators Maintenance and Troubleshooting. Learned Canadian Work Place Culture. Supportive Management. Hardest Part of the job was not having enough work to do at times. Troubleshooting is the most exciting part of the job.
An excellent supportive staff
I work out of the Sherwood Facility. It is small office of about ~45-50 employees of varying job functions. We have IT people, Multi Media designers, software engineers, program management, and courseware developers. We all seem to get along as a team and they are very good about making sure that we are all included in events. With the good come the bad as well. Since we are so detached from the HQ, the management in Tampa tend to forget about us sometimes. We are a fairly large company with employees scattered all over the world. It would be nice to see upper management come for a visit more often but due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been a challenge. The CEO is a very smart person who has always had the best intentions of the employees in mind. Overall a great company to work for.
Free coffee, potlucks, company sponsored employee meals, outings, etc.
Sometimes pay is not decided fairly.
CAE makes amazing and fun products you will know how the work you do helps the general public and you can see that impact. CAE clients are all over the world l, I worked with and travelled to Mexico, Kenya, South Africa, USA, Canada, The UK, China, Japan etc.
Travel, freedom to manage, benefits, W/L balance
The day starts with a follow-up on the last emails you could have received and then you have a meeting on the new projects in wich is presented the clients demand. Then the taks are dispatched to the team. Later the design lead will do a follow-up on the designers work, individually or in a design review.
