I've been with sephora for 3 years now as a beauty advisor and have desperately wanted to move up. For the first 1.5 years when I was happy in my position, everything was great! I felt valued, I loved coming to work. But as soon as I showed desire to get promoted I was given stretch goals to prove myself but then never followed up on, my regular leadership meetings stopped, they seemed to shut me down with any bs excuse they could find. All my exempt leaders do is complain and do nothing to solve their problems. If you are looking just as a part time beauty advisor then go for it, it was super fun and there was a lot of education and free products. But moving up is near impossible.
Education, gratis, flexible hours if part time
Little to no room for promotion, bad store managers
Was a great place when they started. That staus quo we handled easy. Slowly embark into the 2000s but management changed and seems like the place wanted to follow every other logistic warehouse. Work/life balance vanished and yes favoritism surfaced. Overwork veterans slowly moved on.
I acutally really liked working at Sephora despite how difficult it could be at times. They have high expectaations for their employees nd a stricts set of rules and procedures. But overall the company culture and work enviornment were worth it. I love make up and skincare so that 30% discount was a real bonus. The only major issue I had was thaat it was so hard to get time off. If you were sick or experiencing an issue that caused you to miss work you were responsible to find coverage by calling every one of your coworkers and if they couldn't do it you got written up.
discount, coworkers, product, company culture
time off, flexibility, strict rules and procedures
I love working at this company it was fun working there I loved the manager and supervisor was also a nice woman too they let you bring a i pod or mp3 so you can listen to music while working
Me gusto mucho el trabajo por que no es tan dificil de hacer o aprender y a demas las personas que te entrenan son muy amables y tienen mucha paciencia para enceñarte las cosas que deves hacer
es muy agradable el ambiente la gente es muy buena onda
No tengo contras.
You are viewed as a tool to an end, a number- nothing more. They track every movement you make and would hd our jobs over our heads. People were getting laid off left and right if they slipped on productivity for the week, even if they normally did fine. Don't work here.
I overall loved working at Sephora everyday they assigned different tasks and had us learn different jobs. They always gave back to employees and had different celebrations to appreciate the employees.
Clock in to a herd of employees lined up to grab a scanner. Followed by a rush to find a cart and stock it. I learned to be more self motivated here as management never seems to be around when you need them, especially within the first crucial weeks. Otherwise a very friendly and open environment with plenty of space to move about safely. Honestly the only thing I liked about being employed here was the ability to choose when you take a break.
Sephora is an incredible organization. The values, culture, & opportunities for advancement are just a few of the reasons I would recommend Sephora for a career in retail. The people you work with are delightful & your team will become your family & support system. I can’t stress enough how much I loved my team. Leaders at a district level are not in store often enough to really understand the client’s needs, or to get to know many of the employees. If you’re a remote store, important decisions will be made with little regard to what’s best for the store. And at a regional level, they are even more removed from what’s happening in store. Overall, Sephora can be a really rewarding career & you will never stop learning & growing!
a typical day can defer depending on the amount of work .some day it was very hot ,some days it was very cold. i learned different things that go into running an warehouse . it was different kinds of cultures but when working u find most people go threw some of the sames things u go threw .every once in while we were treated to lunch by the company
Great place to work at in my opinion the only thing is that management is poor, favoritism is a strong factor in management. Benefits take a couple months just to get because once you’re hired on with the company you have to wait a couple more months just to have the opportunity to have benefits. The company has an event called Sephora day where you can bring up to 3 guests including yours see to and event that they have planned for the company to spend the day and enjoy their time having fun with family and friends along with the company
