Roles & Objectives

As an Intern you will be part of our Testing Laboratory & Governance Department for Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna S.p.A. and will be reporting to one of our Method Development Scientists. The position will be based in our R&C center in Bologna.

You will use your scientific/engineering knowledge to develop/validate/improve physical laboratory methods using appropriate testing technologies like X-ray/CT-scanner, camera-based vision systems, laser micrometer technologies, dynamometer-based instruments or other relevant testing technologies. This includes both technical work (at-lab, hands-on tasks) and project management activities (definition of project schedule, communication to relevant stakeholders etc.).

Specific Responsibilities:

• 
  Work on the development of new testing capabilities or improvement of existing ones. This includes the identification of technical solutions and the evaluation of the performances (e.g. precision, accuracy) of the defined methodology;

• Consolidate experimental results into technical reports;

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new testing capabilities into existing processes.

Who we’re looking for:

• 
  Degree or ongoing studies in Physics, Engineering or Chemistry;

• Good understanding of Statistics;

• Knowledge of computer vision and related technologies (e.g. X-ray/CT-scanner, camera-based vision systems) is a plus;

• Good level of technical writing

• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Italian is a must, interviews may be carried out in Italian or English.
