Overview

Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) was created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2001 in order to serve as the Host Broadcasting organisation for all Olympic Games, Olympic Winter Games and Youth Olympic Games. The Host Broadcaster is responsible for delivering the pictures and sounds of the Olympic Games to billions of viewers around the world. For more information visit www.obs.tv

Description

The Construction Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the fit-out works of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in Milan, Italy. This role involves working closely with the OBS Construction team and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the project. The IBC building is about 30,000 m² project that includes overseeing architectural, electrical, and mechanical works. The successful applicant will work in an English and Italian-speaking environment at the IBC site with other engineers, architects, and professionals.

Duties

  • Perform as the point person in the coordination of the on-site works between multiple contractors.

  • Oversee and report on the Organizing Committee’s overlay delivery during the “Handover process”.

  • Support the supervision of the commissioning of the overlay building services systems and ongoing maintenance and operation of services during the Games.

  • Facilitate technical coordination and exchange of information between construction team counterparts and contractors.

  • Oversee and manage the construction progress of OBS fit-out works during the Fit-Out phase.

  • Ensure correct implementation of all Health & Safety guidelines, register and notify related issues, and assess risks and suitability of the construction site.

  • Participate actively in the planning and coordination of works, ensuring timelines and specifications are met, solving technical issues, and preparing progress, technical, and cost reports.

  • Perform recurrent quality control checks of the fit-out, in coordination with the contractor’s supervisors, and in accordance with the approved drawings.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with OBS’ IBC construction team (architectural, electrical, and mechanical trades) when necessary.

  • Perform site surveys and prepare progress reports on a recurrent and organized basis.

  • Assist in the preparation other technical and general fit-out reports as needed.

  • Coordinate with the contractor for the final delivery of the broadcast areas to OBS upon completion of fit-out works.

  • Coordinate with OBS Broadcasters Services department for the handover and hand-back of the broadcast areas to the MRHs (Media Rights Holders).

  • Participate in maintenance shifts during the operational phase, focusing on civil works issues, basebuild issues, and fire safety.

  • Review and provide feedback on technical documents, reports, and drawings provided by contractors.

  • Handle AutoCAD aspects of the fit-out executive designs, including reproducing, correcting, or updating designs, and printing drawings and plans as required.

  • During the IBC Dismantling phase, the Site manager will be responsible for performing the Fit-Out materials recovery verification procedure, in coordination with the OBS contractor, and CMO resources.

Experience

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Italian language.

  • Degree in Technical Architecture or Civil Engineering, or similar.

  • Minimum of 5-year experience as a Site Manager/ Construction Supervisor or similar position with experience and awareness of HSE regulation and best practices is essential. The position is required to wear construction PPE during the fit-out phase.

  • Preference will be given to individuals who are already a registered Freelancer.

  • Experience working in an international environment;

  • Strong knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required, and AutoCAD software for creating 2D drawings; basic knowledge of AI tools will be valued.

  • Strong handling of basic web applications, and digital / mobile working tools in general;

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and manage changing priorities;

  • Ability to work under pressure, and towards clear objectives;

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, numeracy and analytical thinking.

  • Strong technical drawing skills and eye for detail.

  • Excellent people and time management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills


Workplace & Environment


  • The position requires on-site presence and does not offer remote work due to the nature of the responsibilities.

  • At the start of the Fit-Out phase (July 2025), operations will be based at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), the position requires on site presence and does not offer remote work.

  • During the maintenance / operational phases (December 2025 through March 2026) the Site Manager will perform shift work, including weekends and evenings.

  • The position remains active during the IBC dismantling phase concluding at the end of April 2026.
