Job Title: Finance Manager - Italy

Reporting To: Group Financial Controller (GFC)

Location: Italy

Purpose of the Role:

We are working with a Globally recognised, private equity backed Certification Body that are looking for a Finance Manager to support the Group Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day finance operations in Italy. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the accounting system and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.

This is a Hybrid position based in Milan, and it is essential the successful candidate speaks and writes professional level English, as they are head-quartered in the UK. Some travel to the UK may be desired.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis for Board Reports.
  • Support the integration of new acquisitions into the core group financial reporting function.
  • Standardise and improve management information reporting for consistency and accuracy.
  • Perform KPI analysis and manage cash/bank transactions and forecasting.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process and provide quarterly updates to the Group Financial Controller.
  • Collaborate with management and department heads to enhance financial performance and support strategic business plans.

Operational Management

  • Conduct detailed analysis of income, costs, and margins.
  • Monitor and maintain financial controls, ensuring the integrity of system data.
  • Ensure the finance function operates in compliance with both group and local policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Assist in integrating financial data and reports into the company's financial system (NetSuite) across the group.
  • Manage parts of the year-end process, including coordinating with external auditors and preparing statutory accounts and tax schedules.
  • Review monthly payroll and ensure all payroll reporting requirements are met.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns and payroll tax returns, ensuring timely payments.

Resource Management

  • Work closely with the Group finance team to effectively utilise internal and external resources in achieving budgetary and strategic goals.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers and employees, to support business objectives.

Success Criteria:

  • Accurate and timely month-end accounting in alignment with Group targets.
  • Continuous improvement of financial accounting processes and procedures within the business.
  • Effective collaboration with key stakeholders across the company, adhering to policy and legal standards.

Context and Expectations:
The Finance Manager is responsible for:

  • Delivering accurate month-end accounting for the company in Italy on time, in line with Group targets.
  • Supporting the integration of the company’s financial data, processes, and procedures into the group’s financial system.
  • Ensuring compliance with Italian legislation for financial and tax reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure compliance with Group and local financial and legal obligations.

Required Competencies:

  • Professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Proven track record of challenging existing processes and recommending improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills and communication abilities.
  • A strong team player with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
