Finance Operations Specialist – Italy

Finance, done differently

We are looking for a Finance Operations Specialist to join our Finance team in Italy, providing operational support across the areas of Billing, Cash Collection and Tax.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth execution of financial processes, maintaining the quality and accuracy of financial information, and collaborating closely with different business functions to support an efficient, compliant and business-oriented finance operation.

What you'll do on a typical day

  • Support the day-to-day billing process, ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on time.
  • Manage and follow up on customer-related issues, supporting debt collection activities and ensuring timely resolution of outstanding receivables.
  • Assist with tax-related processes, preparing documentation and supporting compliance with local tax requirements.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies, identify root causes and propose practical solutions to improve process efficiency.
  • Work closely with internal departments and operational teams to resolve financial queries and ensure effective collaboration.
  • Prepare financial reports, KPIs and operational analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the optimization and automation of finance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Support month-end activities and other finance-related projects when required.

What you need to succeed at XPO

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a Finance department, preferably in Billing, Accounts Receivable, Cash Collection or Tax.
  • Good understanding of financial and accounting processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good level of English.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different teams.

It'd be great if you also have

  • Experience working in a multinational environment or Shared Service Center (SSC).
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Experience in finance process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Power BI or other reporting and data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of tax regulations and financial compliance.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders.
